Managment Training at CMTA

This image is of management training contracts in the past 18 months or so. You would think that people paid well into the 100K per year would already know how to manage and follow through on goals right? Well in the case of CMTA you would be wrong, totally wrong. AT CMTA they hire consultants to come into and tell them how to manage and what there goals should be, and tell them exactly when they should follow through. Incredible right. Yeah for well above half a million in this list, incredible. On top of this they are financing an entire department of two people just to support this balanced scorecard stuff. Of course those two people are very - very well paid.

Captital Metro wants you OFF the bus

from my blog at busatx.org

Due in part to public pressure for greater transparency, the transit authority has begun publishing the President's monthly report to the board online:
http://www.capmetro.org/news/news_detail.asp?id=6516
In the past this was merely a point at the end of board meetings (the part after the part when McCracken leaves) that Gilliam does his blithering best to "hypmotize" the board.
The most noteworthy element of the reports for '09 is that ridership is DOWN every month so far. Not just down, but way down-about 10%. (prorating for leap year of course)
This does not bode well for CMTA's widely stated "goal" of doubling ridership by 2025. We all knew it was bullshit when they started the campaign because that is the year the population is expected to have doubled by, so logic says ridership would naturally double even without an expensive PR campaign.
Capital Metro's real goal, however, is to reduce ridership and it's right there in the President's report. Each month the report shows on the first line a ridership goal that is 20,000 lower than last year!
At this rate they could actually HALVE ridership by 2025.
Kirk Watson is well on his way to changing out this board and the sooner the better. Their cluelessness is off the charts.
